The Arachnians

The Arachnians are a cult of witches that worship the spider as the creator of the universe, builder of reality and inventor of life in every forms. They are also known as "Servants of the Fabric" or "Ladies of the Web". The character presented is the elder chief of the cult. She is blind because at some point the chief does not need eyes anymore, indeed, they are a distraction. The hair decorates the head so that it looks like a spider's web, woven by the spider mask that covers the face. Red stripes of paint cover the entire body, even the scarification on the left arm. On the legs she has streching rings because these witches aspire to have the shape of the spider (in fact I'm thinking about another character, much older - 200 years, thanks to potions - who has extremely long streched limbs and is not seen in public, but is sometimes consulted by the chief).

The witch is made in Photoshop.
I also designed the medallion and the village. I modelled the medallion in Nomad Sculpt and the village in Blender and I refined them in Photoshop.

For the style I was inspired mainly by the African tribes. I had really a lot of fun looking for references and imagining how their world could be.

I imagined this witches in a movie when the main characters go through their territory. The witches show up and try to kill them or use them to celebrate a rite.
